This message most often occurs when you are temporarily out of the data coverage area. Without data access, your phone can't access the voicemail servers. If this is the case, you can retrieve your messages using conventional dial-in voicemail. To do this, tap the button that says Call for new voicemail. You will be connected to the voicemail system where you can access your voicemail over your standard phone connection.
Note: You can also press your device's Menu button to display a short menu where you can retry the download.
If the problem persists even when you are in an area that provides data coverage, there may be a problem with your Visual Voicemail account. The causes of such problems include the following (among others):
● You changed your mobile phone number
● You are using a third-party SMS application. Such applications can sometimes hijack SMS notification messages.
● You signed up for a third-party Visual Voicemail application - and then uninstalled it incorrectly
